Andesite Peak Snowshoe. Trek to Andesite Peak (a route not many people take). Hopefully, we can explore a little. Learn about some of the geology of the area. Beautiful views of Castle Peak and Basin Peak, as well as the rest of the Northern Sierra. Possible trip to Peter Grubb Hut. Bring lunch, warm layered clothes, and something to sit on. Virginia Mountains Dayhike. Dayhike in the Virginia Mountain Range out near Pyramid Lake. Hike will be about 6-8 miles and 1,000 ft. elevation or more. Snowshoe Rock Outcrop past Tamarack Peak. Either over the top of the peak (1,000 ft. ascent) or around the southerly route (700 ft.), to reach the rock outcrop. Located near Mt. Rose, Relay Peak, and Slide Mountain. Great views of Lake Tahoe and forests around peak. Off-trail. Dress with warm layers. Possible deep snow with crust. Leaan about this area for future hikes or snowshoe trips. ND. Leader: Gary Hanneman (425-3742). Moderate.

Petroglyphs at Lahontan near Silver Springs. Visit the petroglyphs at Lahontan Reservoir. Learn some history of the area. High clearance/4Wheel drive vehicles will be needed, or possible ride share. About four miles; elevation gain: under 300 feet. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Easy.

GB Group general meeting. Come travel with Dennis Ghiglieri and Rose Strickland to the Galapagos Islands. The slide presentation of their recent trip to this special place includes adventure, natural history and wildlife (with lots of birds, if you know Rose and Dennis). Seeing and hearing about their adventures on the boat and on land will have you wanting to go there too. Come and learn about the places that so inspired Charles Darwin. Virginia & Truckee Rail Road Dayhike. Hike a portion of the scenic V &T right of way before the tracks are relaid. Learn about the history of the area. Vehicle shuttle will be necessary. Hike is about 10 miles downhill. ND. Leader: T A Taro (775-530-2935). Moderately easy.

Hot Springs & Cold Nights. Soak in a hot spring, primitive camping under near-dark skies. Great stars. Learn about the Black Rock area, Gerlach's natural history, visit local art studio, see the site of the cancelled Sempra Power Plant. Possible dinner in Gerlach. Bad weather cancels. DL. Easy. Two Tips Dayhike. Two Tips is just east of Fernley in the Truckee Range. We'll overlook and learn about the Carson Sink terminus of the Humboldt River and make a wild fowl stopover. This seldom visited peak is a perfect desert trip for the early spring. HIke is about 8 miles and 1,000 ft. elevation gain. DL. Leader: David Von Seggern (303-8461). Moderate.

Virginia Range Jaunt. Explore and learn about the central Virginia Range north of Louse Peak. Rolling high country, pinyon pines, and wild horses to be found. Lunch and Ice-Skating at South Lake Tahoe. Lunch at Nikki's Chaat Cafe at S. Lake Tahoe, followed by ice-skating at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. Nikki's Chaat Cafe is an Indian restaurant with both Indian and American foods, reasonable prices, and a buffet. Address: 3469 S. Lake Tahoe Blvd., S. Lake Tahoe (near Long's Drug and Heidi's).
