Emigrant Lake Dayhike. Hike from Caples Lake, Carson Pass area, to Emigrant
Lake. Learn about fish, birds, and mosquitoes. Interesting waterfall

Thomas Creek Trail for Families. Join us on the outing geared for families
or people who want a stroll. You will learn about a great place to take

Backpack Round Lake. Pack into Round Lake then explore the other lakes

Tri-Lake Ramble. This is one of my favorite dayhikes that winds by
three beautiful mountain lakes and one fall. Learn about the mining history,

Dana Plateau-Tioga Pass Area Camp and Hike. From near Tioga Pass, ascend
Glacier Canyon Trail for 2.5 mi. to Dana Lake and then another 1.5 mi.
to the Dana Plateau for a 2,000 ft. gain. Camping in Tioga Pass area.
Sunday, hike to the site of old Bennettville and to several lakes in
the Hall Natural Area NW of Tioga Pass Resort. Learn about the wildflowers,
glacial activity and great scenery. Leave on Friday in order to find

Annual Member's Barbeque. Join us for our Member's Barbeque in the Manzanita
Group Picnic Area at Galena Park. This spot is near Galena Creek and
has lots of trees. Also, a great volleyball court (that is level) and
two horseshoe pits. The Great Basin Group will provide hamburgers, hot
dogs, veggie-burgers, sodas, and all condiments. Please bring a side-dish
to share and BYOB. Picnic will start at 11:00 AM. Take 395 S. to Mt.
Rose Hwy. and go west. Drive 6.2 miles to the second entrance on the

Galena Park Hike. Work up an appetite on this moderately easy hike in Galena

Elephant's Back at Carson Pass. Scale the Elephant's Back, visit Frog Pond,
Winnemucca Lake and Round Top Lake with a possible return by Wood's Lake.

John Muir Trail Backpack. Three days of backpacking in the John Muir Wilderness
beginning at Rock Creek and ending up near Lake Mary above Mammoth. Experienced,
well-conditioned backpackers only. Must be able to carry own food for
three days and have all backpacking essentials. Learn about the geology
and history of this famous trail. Must call by the 14th to confirm. Donations

Tahoe Rim Trail to Galena Waterfall. Hike along the Tahoe Rim Trail
to Galena Creek Waterfall at a spectacular 60 ft. This is an easy-paced hike
and will be about 5 miles with less than 1,000 ft. elevation gain. We'll explore
the Mt. Rose Meadows, as time permits. View and learn wildflowers of the area.

Auguar 20 (Sunday)
Basin and Castle Peak Hike. We will bag two peaks, see the best flower
display in Tahoe and have a pot luck picnic at the end. A full day. Spectacular
view of the Sierras and Carson Mt. ranges. May see Shasta and Lasson
peaks. 15 miles and 4000 feet elevation gain. DOK with leader approval.

Bat Walk along the Truckee River. Come experience a phenomenon only a few
have shared in Reno. The evening emergence of thousands of bats along
the Truckee River. We will witness how they soar, glide, and swoop to
catch all those nasty bugs (AKA mosquitoes). Great walk for older children.
Dogs must be on leash. Walk is about 4 mi. and no elevation gain. Bring

Mt. Rose Meadows Hike. Join the Sierra Club for an easy stroll away
from the city heat in the Mount Rose Meadows. We'll discuss the alpine vegetation
in the area and also what we can do to protect the Meadows from Motorized
Vehicles. We'll also learn the whistle code. BYO whistle. This will be
about 2 miles and we'll enjoy lunch in a beautiful spot. DL. Leader:

Silver Peak 10,722. Near Ebbett’s Pass and about 14 miles/4,000 feet

Red Lake Peak and Steven's Peak at Carson Pass. Hike to the top or near top of two peaks each over 10,000 ft. elevation. Long portions of hike are off trail. Must have sturdy boots. Lake Paddle South Lake Tahoe, Emerald Bay. This is a Class I paddle near
the town of South Lake Tahoe. We can skirt the shoreline and enter Emerald
